Deflating Your Air Mattress
The air mattress is a handy fixture to have. But, when you’re all done it can be a hassle to remove the air. If you have a vacuum handy, this can be easy.
You no longer have to spend time pressing out your air mattress. And at the end of pressing it out, there will be no more air preventing you from folding it.
Just place the vacuum into the air nozzle and put it on its high setting. Turn the vacuum on and allow it to pull all the air from the mattress. Once it’s completely flat, just roll it and fold it for storage.
DIY Vacuum Sealed Storage Bag
If you need storage and have no storage bags, you can make your own. You just need a plastic bag that has no holes and a vacuum.
Simply create a narrow passage at the top of the bag for the air to flow through. Once you have the bag loaded, just suck out the air and seal the bag by tying.
After this, you can roll or fold the bag for storage. Ensure that there are no holes in the bag as a hole will allow air to enter and reverse the process. Enjoy reusing plastic bags for efficient storage.
Deodorizing Your Home
Adding dryer sheets to your vacuum will make your home smell great. You can place these in your vacuum bag and as you clean, it will release a fresh scent.
If you don’t use dryer sheets you can use essential oils for the same effect. This hack will really help to make your home smell better while you clean.
This always makes me feel more productive. Placing an aroma in the vacuum may also help with aroma therapy if you use essential oils.
Cleaning the Window
Your vacuum can help you in ways you may not immediately notice. When cleaning your window you can use your vacuum to help.
It will get into the gaps to remove the dust and dander. If you don’t have the cylindrical extension, you can use a toilet paper tube.
Just wrap the tube around the hose and secure it. Then you can manipulate it to get into small spaces.
Then all you have to do is turn it on and let it work. All the dust that got too deep into your window sills will be removed.
Grooming Your Dog
There is no denying that pet hair gets everywhere. You can prevent this by grooming your dog with your vacuum.
There is a pet grooming extension that will allow you to remove the dog hair before it gets everywhere. Just set it up and clean your pet’s fur.
This will prevent breakage and excess shedding and allow your pet to feel cool if it’s warm out. Vacuuming your pet will also save your carpets and furniture from being covered in pet hair. No more excessive cleaning because of dander.
Finding Lost Jewelry
When we lose jewelry in the house, there’s no common place to just leave it. If we find it great, if not then we just slowly move on.
However, finding lost jewelry is no longer a Where’s Waldo puzzle. Just put a stocking or tights over the vacuum nozzle and it will help to locate the missing jewelry.
This hack will allow you to pick up jewelry from hard to reach places without sending them into the depths of the vacuum. Your small pieces will get caught in the tights and allow for safe retrieval.
Cleaning the Couch
Cleaning the couch can be much easier when you use a vacuum. It will get into crevices and the depths of the couch with ease.
Just remove the cushions and clean the inside of the couch first. Once the inside is dust free, get to the actual cushions.
At this point you may want to use a vacuum friendly cleaning solution to loosen the dirt. Just apply this as directed then vacuum it off. Your couch will be deeply clean, fresh and warm.
Lifting Carpet Dints
Rearranging furniture can give your home a complete lift. It makes a room refreshing and can add a new atmosphere.
However, furniture will leave dints in the carpet if it has been sitting for a long time. These can ruin the look of the carpet. Get them out using a vacuum and ice.
Simply lay an ice cube over the area and allow it to melt. This will dampen the area and make it more free. The next step is to vacuum the area dry to reverse the dint.
Cleaning Blinds
Blinds have so many slats that cleaning them individually seems endless. It’s much easier to use the vacuum to clean the blinds. It will give a complete clean.
Just attach the handle brush to the hose of your vacuum. After you’ve attached the handle brush, just run it over the blinds to suck up the dust in one sweep.
A cordless vacuum is ideal for this if you have one. But, if you feel up to it you can also use your corded vacuum.
Vacuuming with Baking Soda
Vacuuming with baking soda can really give your cleaning a boost. If you’re cleaning a carpet or upholstery just sprinkle a small amount of baking soda to give a deeper clean.
It will deodorize and disinfect the surface. It works great for stains and will make removing anything that’s stuck on, very easy.
